A banking CV is read in under a minute by somebody screening hundreds. It has to prove three things fast: that you can do the analytical work, that you have chosen banking on purpose, and that you will be careful with detail. Everything on the page should serve one of those.

What the seat screens for

Academic record. Grades come first for students: the degree, the classification or average so far, and A-levels or equivalent with results. A strong record buys the rest of the page a reading.
Evidence of the work. Modelling, valuation, a pitch, a sector screen. Internships are best, but a society valuation team or a competition counts if the bullet says what you built and how big it was.
Commitment to the seat. Spring weeks, insight days, finance societies and a credible reason for applying. Reviewers look for a pattern, not a single line.
Care. One typo, inconsistent dates or a second page undo a good record. The format is part of the assessment.

The order, and why

Education first, because the reader is a student; then experience with the most relevant role at the top; then skills and a short line of interests. A profile is optional at this stage and this sample keeps it to two sentences.

Membership is not an achievement. Leading a team to a ranked result is.

Mistakes to avoid

Two pages. An undergraduate banking CV is one page in London and New York alike.
A skills line full of soft skills ("team player", "hard-working") that no screener can check.
Dates in three formats. Pick one, such as "Jun 2025 - Aug 2025", and use it everywhere.
Listing every module. Name the three that tell a banker something.

UK CV or US resume

In the UK, include A-level grades and your degree average or expected classification. For US applications, convert to a resume: GPA on the education line, no photograph or date of birth, and city and state rather than a full address.
