Private equity roles, tracked live.

The private equity landscape as a map rather than a list: who these firms are, what they buy, where they recruit, and which of them run a direct analyst or off-cycle route at all. Most of the industry still hires associates out of banking, so the open roles below are the narrow published part of a much larger market. Fund placement, transaction services and sponsor coverage seats are advisory work and are filed elsewhere.

Every live private equity role

4 roles

Ranked by what needs a decision first: deadlines this month, then confirmed windows, then the newly posted, then the rest. No firm takes more than three rows in a run, so one bank’s twenty postings do not bury the others.

Direct junior hiring in private equity is deliberately small. Analyst intakes open once a year at most, off-cycle seats appear irregularly, and the US on-cycle associate process runs through headhunters rather than postings. A short board is the market, not a gap in the sync.

Firm categories and focus areas are maintained by L3VLUP editors against each firm’s own pages and filings, and were last reviewed on 24 September 2026. Role counts and locations come from each firm’s own careers feed at the last sync.

Action now

Deadlines in the next 7 days and windows opening in the next 14, from the same rows as the board below. Last verified 17 October 2026.

Nothing closes in the next 7 days.

Most rows on the board publish no closing date; the firm’s own page is the place to confirm one.

How this route works

Private equity hires far fewer juniors than banking and hires them differently. The classic route is still two years of investment banking followed by the associate recruiting cycle, but direct analyst programmes at the mega funds and a growing set of mid-market firms now take a small number of people straight from university, and those seats are among the most competitive in finance.

Because the seats are scarce, the windows matter even more than in banking. Direct analyst intakes open once a year at most, off-cycle internships appear irregularly and fill fast, and the US on-cycle associate process famously compresses from first call to exploding offer in days. What is tracked here is the part with published windows; the untracked part runs on headhunters and networks.

Preparation is also different in kind. Banking screens on motivation and mechanics at entry; PE screens on judgement from the first interview, usually through a paper LBO, a modelling test and an investment discussion where you are expected to have a view. The kit below is ordered accordingly.

Prepare for these seats

A deadline is only useful with an application ready behind it. The path, in the order the rounds come, and the real material these banks produce.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get into private equity straight from university?

Yes, but through a narrow door. Several mega funds and a set of mid-market firms run direct analyst programmes, with small classes and early windows. The majority of the industry still hires associates out of investment banking analyst programmes, so the realistic plan for most candidates is a banking seat first, chosen with PE exits in mind.

What is tested in a PE interview?

Judgement, through mechanics. Expect a paper LBO in early rounds, a timed modelling test later, and an investment discussion throughout where you need a defensible view on whether a business is a good buyout. Technical fluency is assumed rather than rewarded; what scores is reasoning about the deal.

When should I start preparing?

Before the window opens, because the windows are short and the tests are skill-based. The paper LBO and the modelling test both respond quickly to deliberate practice, and both are close to impossible to cram in the week an off-cycle posting appears.
