Product Manager CV example
Career switcher · UK CV · set in the Product & Strategy template
Product hiring looks for people who have decided what to build and been accountable for whether it worked. A switcher’s CV has to reframe their experience in those terms: the problem, the decision, the launch and the outcome, with the team they led to get there.
A sample person: the name, employers and figures are invented. A strategy consultant who led digital product work for clients, moving into a product manager role at a fintech.
The order, and why
A profile that makes the switch explicit; experience reframed around products and outcomes; education; skills and tools.
Weak bullets, made strong
Weak: Advised clients on digital transformation
Strong: Led a 7-person client team to launch a mobile onboarding flow, raising completed applications from 38% to 61% in 3 months
Your leadership, a launched product and a measured outcome.
Weak: Conducted user research
Strong: Ran 24 user interviews that cut a planned 9-feature release to 3, delivered 6 weeks early
Research that changed a decision.
Mistakes to avoid
- Consulting language ("drove alignment", "delivered recommendations") with no product shipped.
- Outcomes owned by the client with no sign of your part.
- No mention of engineers or design. Product is a team sport.
UK CV or US resume
UK: one or two pages; a short profile is normal for a switcher. US: one page, and the profile can be one line in the headline.
