How it works
Net burn is monthly costs less monthly revenue. Cash divided by net burn is the runway at today’s burn, the figure most people mean by runway.
With growth, the calculator steps month by month: revenue and costs each grow at their own rate, the burn narrows, and breakeven is the first month revenue covers costs. The cash used until then is the funding the plan actually needs.
If that is more than the cash on hand, the difference is the gap to raise, and the month the cash runs out comes before breakeven.
